Week 1
Gentle Nourishment
Promotes metabolism and regulates physiological functions
Sheng Hua Herbal Soup
Begin on day 5 postpartum, one dose daily. After vaginal delivery, take for 7 days. After C-section, start after day 10 and take for 12 days. Sheng Hua Tang contains dong quai (Angelica herb), chuanxiong (Szechuan Root), peach kernel, dried ginger, and honey-fried licorice. It is decocted and taken in three doses before meals. It helps expel lochia, regulate and support uterine recovery, reduce cramping, and help prevent postpartum infection.
Thirst Quenching Tea
Boil lychee shells into a drink and consume it (for 2 or 4 weeks).
Health Preserving Tea/Liver-Nourishing Tea
Boil astragalus, red dates, and goji berries into a decoction and drink it (for 2 or 4 weeks).
Pig Liver
It helps the uterus expel lochia and postpartum discharge, promotes uterine contractions, and restores normal uterine function.
Ginger
Ginger helps warm the body and dispel cold. Old ginger is high in fiber and may help prevent postpartum constipation when eaten with the skin.
